December 17, 2014 7:15a.m.
1. Review participation numbers for the Winter activities
2. Discussion on the new Transgender Policy from the MSHSL. The committee will be kept informed as Coach "C" and Superintendent Wayne Gilman work through any new policies that need to be adopted regarding this issue. At this time we are waiting for more information to come from the MSHSL.
3. Per a request, information regarding the financial component dealing with supplies, maintenance, and long range vision for the Activities of Pine City School District was provided.
December 18, 2013 7:15 a.m.
1. Review of the Dance Line including first season progress and information on the competition they are performing at. It was also brought up if it would be feasible to have in conjunction with these activities the Winter Cheerleading program that Dance Line replaced this year. This will be looked into.
2. Initial discussion on the current Violation penalties for MSHSL infractions. A continued email strand will begin looking at possible better answers to a few concerns :
a. How the current penalties are not equal across the sports in terms of percentages of events lost.
b. Our penalty for a third violation removes the student athlete from participation for an entire calendar year.
c. Wording is unclear as to when these penalties come into effect for our participants - In Jr. High or when they are on C-Squad or higher level.
December 19, 2012 7:15 a.m.
1. Covered Winter Sport participation numbers. Numbers are very good in most activities and especially when compared to other conference schools.
2. Fine Arts Report. Winter concerts were tremendous. Dorian, and All Conference Band and Choir events are coming up.
3. Academic Troubled Athletes and the great efforts of the coaching staff not only in-season, but also keeping tabs on them during that sports off-season was discussed. Use of school view by the coaches to monitor the weekly efforts of their athletes is showing promising returns.
4. Had initial discussions on the possibility to formulate an "All Activity" wide criteria for the nomination of Team Captains. Further discussion will follow with both the head coaches as well as this committee regarding the topic.
